Bio
Joel Wayne is a pastor, business owner, author, and leadership consultant.
My career began after leaving the great state of Georgia with my business degree and Masters of Divinity in hand to head to Kentucky and serve as a student pastor. It was there where I met my wife, and we had our first son. After a few short years, we moved to Greenwich, Connecticut, where I became the lead pastor of a dying church about to close its doors. Leadership was hard, and I felt unprepared to bring revitalization. But, after seven long years, the church was finally healthy and stable with its largest attendance, an increase in young families, and growing community involvement.

With a continued urge to restore and revitalize churches, I took a new challenge in Beaver Dam, Kentucky, at the county’s largest church. This culture was the opposite of Greenwich, CT, but it was another hurting church. I had to create unity in a divisive situation. In two short years, unity was increasing, attendance was growing, and large-scale community impact was happening. It was remarkable.

Before long, another opportunity presented itself in Hudsonville, Michigan, at Chapel Pointe church. Another leadership test, this time turning the ship in a new direction and creating a new culture. I’m thankful to lead this thriving church. We have a strong influence in our community as we reach out to schools and businesses. I founded Be The Church, which exists to develop healthy leaders who strengthen and start churches to advance a gospel movement.

While here in Michigan, I started VSI Leadership because I want all leaders to grow their influence. I learned that leadership has 3 key steps: vision, strategy, and implementation. We have decisions to make, but the opportunity for positive and lasting impact is huge. I consult with leaders in small businesses to mid-size enterprises in banking, food service, and private practice healthcare, among others.
