You can now watch our talk with host of Mock the Week, Dara Ó Briain as he talks to BBC Sky at Night Magazine Editor Chris Bramley about his new hobby, whilst sharing his experiences of being a beginner at the start of the steep astrophotography learning curve.

They take a light-hearted look at some of the frustrations that come with taking pictures in the dark, top tips for how not to make your telescope an instant health hazard and getting to grips with image processing. They'll also share their experiences of those occasional times when faint photos of starlight stay in focus and make it into a finished photo.

Dara Ó Briain
Stand-up comedian and television presenter Dara Ó Briain is best known in the UK for hosting popular television shows such as Mock the Week, Robot Wars, Stargazing Live and Blockbusters. His latest stand-up show, Voice of Reason has been performed across the globe and was filmed and released as a BBC special in 2019.

Chris Bramley is the Editor of BBC Sky at Night Magazine. A journalist by training, he has been covering space and astronomy since 2005 and has headed up the magazine's editorial team since 2011.
