ABOUT THIS WEBINAR
This one-hour session will explore the profound and often-overlooked biblical framework for understanding and addressing the fragmentation, shattering, and deep wounds caused by trauma. We will center on the ministry of Jesus, who came "to bind up the brokenhearted" (Isaiah 61:1, Luke 4:18), and use the powerful metaphor of broken pottery—a biblical image of human fracturing—to guide counselors in offering Christ-centered hope and a pathway toward integration and redemption.
Objectives:
- Identify and articulate the biblical concept of human "fracturing" or "shattering" as a result of trauma, drawing from key scriptural metaphors.
- Understand the centrality of Jesus Christ's redemptive work as the ultimate "binder" of the brokenhearted (Isaiah 61:1-3; Luke 4:18-19).
- Utilize the imagery of broken pottery (Psalm 31:12) to conceptualize the client's internal experience of trauma and communicate God's capacity for restoration.
- Help counselees move from safety and stabilization, to lament and grief, and towards ultimate restoration.
