About
This presentation highlights how integrated structural biology and biophysical techniques enable more efficient and rational drug discovery. By combining Cryo‑EM, X‑ray crystallography, NMR, and HDX‑MS, Novalix delivers a comprehensive understanding of biomolecular structure, dynamics, and interactions. These structural insights transform drug discovery from a trial‑and‑error process into a precision‑driven strategy, supporting improved target validation, accelerated lead optimization, and reduced attrition.

Each technique provides complementary strengths: Cryo‑EM enables the study of large macromolecular assemblies, X‑ray crystallography provides high‑resolution atomic detail, NMR supports the analysis of small proteins and low‑affinity fragments, and HDX‑MS reveals protein dynamics and addresses targets that are challenging for other approaches. Together, they generate a complete and actionable view of drug–target mechanisms.

At Novalix, integrated workflows accelerate every stage of discovery from rational construct design and biophysical characterization to fragment screening and lead optimization, including challenging targets such as membrane proteins and protein–protein interactions. Seamless transitions between techniques minimize bottlenecks when individual methods reach their limits, reducing risk and avoiding project delays. This integrated approach delivers measurable impact, enabling faster timelines and improved success rates.

Brice Murciano, PhD
Principal Scientist, Novalix
Dr Brice Murciano is a structural biochemist with over 15 years of experience. Throughout his career, he has held key roles, including Scientific Officer, first leading a crystallization facility and later moving into single-particle analysis (SPA) by cryo-EM. In this context, he contributed to cutting-edge research in structural and computational biology and co-authored several high-profile publications.

Céline Ronin, PhD
Head of Structural Biology, Novalix
Dr Céline Ronin is a structural biologist with nearly 20 years of experience in structural biology, with a strong focus in X-ray crystallography. From the very beginning of her studies, she was determined to pursue a career in industrial research. She achieved this goal through a CIFRE PhD thesis, which she defended in 2010. Since then, she has gained solid experience in delivering protein production and structural biology services, mainly on small molecule-protein complexes.

Marc Vitorino, PhD
Head of NMR, Novalix
Dr Marc Vitorino has over 15 years of experience in biotech companies and CROs, applying high-field NMR to drug discovery, structural biology, and analytics. Trained as a structural biologist, he chose early in his career to move into industry and focus on early drug discovery. His work centers on applying liquid-state NMR spectroscopy with fragment libraries to study therapeutic target proteins, identify new binding molecules, and characterize fragment–protein interaction.
