About
Across the world, efforts to speed up decarbonization are driving a shift toward self-consumption in the residential market. Inverters have a key role to play, with new products requiring the inherent versatility to meet the different needs of residential PV systems. What’s more, costumers expect a wide range of energy management features to optimize their consumption, allowing them to achieve solar self-sufficiency.

With the launch of the next3, an all-in-one 3-phase battery inverter with built-in solar, Studer Innotec promises the tool to take this step towards solar autarky. In this pv magazine Spotlight, Pierre-Olivier Moix, CTO at Studer and the technical coordinator of the project’s development, will introduce the next3 and walk us through the software, monitoring, and user interface.

Fully manufactured in Switzerland, the next3 offers a compact solution for off-grid, on-grid, and hybrid installations. It incorporates 2 high voltage MPPT inputs for a 16 KW integrated solar power. Compatible with almost every 48V battery technology, users can expect maximized autonomy with the capacity to manage electrical mobility, heating and cooling, and any other consumption needs through the combination of solar and storage.

The presentation will shine a light on the unique AC flex interface, which is configurable as a second source or an extra controlled load. As a second AC source, it can combine two different AC sources with different setups, for example, grid and backup generator or two different generators. As a controllable second AC load, it can configure specific energy strategy with the second 3-phase load, like an EV charger working only with solar excess.
