Saffron is an unique herb with roots in history and threads reaching all the way to modern day clinical practice.* In this presentation, we'll take a deep dive into the growing body of research and clinical trials exploring saffron's role in supporting healthy mood, hormonal balance, cognitive health, and sleep quality including its potential relevance in women’s health including menopause as well as sexual wellness.* We'll review proposed mechanisms of action, including effects on serotonin and dopamine activity, inflammatory pathways, BDNF expression, and HPA axis regulation, along with emerging research on ocular, cardiovascular, and metabolic health.*
Drawing on thousands of years of traditional use across diverse cultures, we'll also explore the ethnobotanical wisdom behind saffron and its historical pairings with herbs like Ashwagandha, Bacopa, and Shatavari. Finally, we'll translate the research into clinical practice covering safe and effective dosing, contraindications, and cautions using real-world case studies to demonstrate practical application.*
