MyTutor - Narrowing the attainment gap with online tuition
Following school closures last year, disadvantaged students now face a learning gap of 4+ months compared to their better-off peers, according to the NFER. The announcement of the latest 6-week national lockdown from January could expand this gap even further.

Online tuition, subsidised through the government’s National Tutoring Programme, is a powerful tool in schools’ arsenals to narrow the attainment gap. In this session, Richard Angus (Head of Education Partnerships, MyTutor) will discuss:

● The impact of online tuition on pupil progress and attainment, using insights from 600+ MyTutor partner schools

● How to run an effective online tutoring programme in practice, from student selection to lesson logistics and measuring progress

● How tuition delivery works as part of the National Tutoring Programme

● Tuition in the context of COVID: ensuring programmes are resilient to national and local lockdowns, and school closures

About MyTutor
At MyTutor, we provide high-impact online tuition programmes, matching KS3, GCSE and A-Level students with top university tutors to reinforce classwork, boost confidence, plug learning gaps, and raise grades.

Typically funded by the pupil premium, our programmes open up access to tailored 1:1 and small group (3:1) tuition for disadvantaged pupils – enabling them to make 1 whole grade of progress after 10 sessions, on average.

As an approved Tuition Partner on the National Tutoring Programme, this year we're supporting 30,000 pupils across 600 schools with subsidised online tuition, to help narrow the attainment gap.
