Channa Amarasekera, MD

Dr. Channa Amarasekera is a board-certified urologist at Northwestern Medicine and an Assistant Professor of Urology at the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. His clinical practice focuses on men’s health and sexual medicine, including the treatment of erectile dysfunction, Peyronie’s disease, kidney stones, benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), and other urologic conditions affecting quality of life.
Dr. Amarasekera earned his medical degree from Harvard Medical School, completed his residency in urology at Northwestern University’s McGaw Medical Center, and pursued fellowship training in sexual medicine and reconstructive urology at Rush University Medical Center.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Amarasekera is recognized for his research and advocacy focused on improving urologic care for sexual minority populations. He serves as director of the Northwestern Medicine Gay and Bisexual Men’s Urology Program, one of the first programs of its kind in the United States, where his work aims to address healthcare disparities and improve outcomes for LGBTQ+ patients with urologic conditions and prostate cancer.
