About
Join LifeNet Health LifeSciences for our first Assay Services webinar, focusing on Dermal Absorption. This session explores in vitro permeation testing, a crucial method for assessing a compound’s potential to penetrate the skin and reach systemic circulation.

LifeNet Health leverages 40+ years as a global leader in tissue banking and organ procurement to support this assay by processing highly controlled and consistent excised human skin with preserved anatomical structure and barrier properties. Following OECD Test Guideline 428 and SCCS/1358/10, recognized as gold standards for dermal absorption studies, we ensure regulatory compliance and high-quality data. Our GLP-compliant services offer reliable, reproducible results that align with global guidelines, providing essential support for product safety testing and regulatory submissions.

Attendees will learn how our assays help predict dermal absorption of compounds and support safer, more effective product development.

Key Topics:

  • Human-Relevant Data: Learn why in vitro dermal absorption assays using human skin are the gold standard for accurate skin permeation data.

  • Regulatory Compliance: Discover how LifeNet Health LifeSciences ensures regulatory acceptance by aligning with OECD Test Guideline 428, SCCS/1358/10, and other internationally recognized standards.

  • Customizable Testing: Understand the flexibility of our assays, including tailored analyte detection and skin donor characteristics.

  • Streamlined R&D Support: See how our assays aid in early product development, improving safety profiles and speeding up regulatory submissions.

  • Comprehensive Dermal Testing: Explore our full portfolio of dermal assays, including irritation, corrosion, and sensitization, for a complete skin safety evaluation.

  • Ethical & Sustainable Skin Sourcing: Benefit from LifeNet Health’s vertically integrated skin procurement model, from organ procurement to research use, designed to ensure ethically sourced, high quality human tissue that supports reproducible in vitro testing and reduces reliance on animal models.

Alec Salminen, PhD
Manager, In Vitro Assay Services, LifeNet Health LifeSciences
Dr. Alec Salminen is a biomedical engineer whose research bridges microphysiological systems and toxicology to advance the establishment and acceptance of new approach methodologies. He earned his PhD from the University of Rochester, where his dissertation focused on developing novel in vitro models to study endothelial dysfunction and immune cell behavior during inflammation, which was honored with the University's Outstanding Dissertation Award. During his postdoctoral training at the U.S. FDA’s National Center for Toxicological Research, his research involved the evaluation of alternative skin barrier models, collaborating closely with centers across the FDA and NIH to advance our understanding of in vitro permeation testing for regulatory application. He now serves as Manager of the In Vitro Assay Services group at LifeNet Health LifeSciences, leading a team that provides comprehensive in vitro toxicology testing to industry, government, and academic partners.
