Day 1, Keynote 2 will see Professor Becky Francis review the past nine years of research evidence and the pupil premium.

It has been almost nine years since the Pupil Premium was introduced. In that time a wide-ranging evidence base has been built showing schools and teachers the approaches, interventions and strategies that are likely to prove most successful with our disadvantaged students. Leading the way in this research revolution has been the Education Endowment Foundation (EEF). But what have we learnt in these past nine years about what works with our most disadvantaged pupils? And what is in store in the coming years when it comes to evidence-led Pupil Premium practice?

In this keynote session, the Professor Becky Francis will look at the most important research findings since 2011 and those most relevant to Pupil Premium success. It will consider the most effective Pupil Premium approaches, in terms of value for money and in terms of achieving maximum pupil progress.

The session will offer delegates ideas and advice for how to place research evidence at the heart of both whole-school strategies and classroom practice, including how to empower teachers to make the best use of research.
