With COVID-19 giving many of us downtime at home with our families, we invite you to take this opportunity to attend our online interactive community discussion. We will use the movie "Screenagers NEXT CHAPTER: Uncovering Skills For Stress Resilience" as a starting point for an online interactive discussion about how we help teens build crucial skills to navigate stress, anxiety, and depression in our digital age.

High stress, anxiety, and depression are experienced by millions of young people. This film follows physician and filmmaker, Delaney Ruston, as she discovers solutions for improved adolescent well-being in the digital age.

Presenter
Sarah is the founding director of Rhode Island Student Assistance Services established with enabling legislation in 1986. She has established, managed and provided training and technical assistance to student assistance programs throughout Rhode Island. The RI Student Assistance Program has grown from a pilot in seven high schools to over 57 middle and high schools in 32 Rhode Island school districts. She is passionate about school-based prevention and early intervention services for youth and their families because it has proven to be an effective model for identifying youth at risk and intervening before their problems become chronic or severe.

Sarah holds an A.B. degree from Smith College and a Masters in Social Work from Simmons College.

Dr. Kevin Plummer
Presenter
Kevin Plummer, Ph.D is licensed psychologist, practicing for more than thirty years with an exclusive focus on children, adolescents and families; and a specialty in developing therapeutic programming in school and therapeutic treatment settings.

He graduated University of Massachusetts with a Bachelor’s degree in psychology in 1977, then received a Master’s Degree, followed by a Doctorate in psychology in 1983 from the University of Rhode Island.

His career began conducting child and family therapy —with school consultation—in a children’s’ mental health center, culminating in becoming Clinical Director/ Director of Professional Services; and finally Executive Director of the RI Youth Guidance Center. In 1993, he started his own consulting organization, School Clinical & Consulting Services, where Dr. Plummer sets up programs for troubled children and trains teachers, staff and parents to implement these custom programs. Since then, his practice has provided professional development, program development, and staff consultation to more than 30 school districts, psychiatric hospitals, and therapeutic treatment settings in RI, CT and MA.
