Somebody on your leadership team saw a post saying cash is dead. Somebody else wants to try going cashless in a handful of stores. And when it comes up in the meeting, you're the one expected to have the answer.
This panel puts the Federal Reserve and a major commercial bank in the same conversation as the people who protect cash for a living. What they see doesn't match the headlines. You'll hear how many Americans still carry cash (more than your CFO would guess), and why one banker calls going cashless "a terrible idea" for most retailers.

Presenters
Robert Norman
SVP Cash Logistics Strategy, Fifth Third Bank
Robert has run commercial cash processing at Fifth Third Bank for the last 16 years, and his background before that was in payments. He was there for Fifth Third's move into smart safes and smart recycling, which let retailers get provisional credit on cash before it ever leaves the store. He's also a vocal supporter of making cash acceptance one national standard instead of a patchwork of state laws.
Shaun O’Brien
Lead Analyst, FedCash Financial Services, Federal Reserve
Sean has been at the Federal Reserve for almost 15 years. He works on the FedCash Financial Services team, which runs order and deposit services for banks and credit unions out of the Fed's 28 cash offices across the country. A big part of his job is understanding how consumers actually use cash and how they expect to use it later. The Fed's annual Diary of Consumer Payment Choice is the main data source for that work.
Tom Meehan
Chief Executive Officer, Controltek
Tom has led ControlTek for about 10 years. Before that he spent 22 years in retail in a long list of roles. Half of ControlTek's business is protecting cash and the other half is technology, so Tom spends a lot of time on the road talking with retailers about payment strategy. He hears a lot of it off the record. He's especially focused on business continuity and on how retailers with thousands of stores handle cash differently from one market to the next.
Brad Moody
Executive Vice President, CONTROLTEK
Brad works alongside Tom Meehan on ControlTek's tamper-evident packaging division. He has spent about 30 years in the banking industry, 12 of them in risk, and he's a certified fraud investigator. He spends a lot of time with retailers, banks and Federal Reserve teams. His focus is how cash moves from the register to the vault, and where it gets lost or stolen along the way.
