Day 1, session 3 is from Faye and Kerry who will look at Pupil Premium strategy across phases and schools.

This workshop will focus on cross-phase working, between primary and secondary schools, to support positive Pupil Premium outcomes. It will look at the strategies and best practice in place at Gosport and Fareham Multi Academy Trust on the south coast of England, notably work on-going between Brune Park Community School (46% Pupil Premium) and Rowner Junior School (38% Pupil Premium).

The workshop will discuss the three-year MAT strategy and the hurdles that have been encountered and overcome, including creating a three-year Pupil Premium strategy and the potential barriers that must be considered. A core focus of the MAT’s work is finding, sharing and using a good evidence-base to create its Pupil Premium strategies – from whole-school interventions to classroom approaches. This include lessons learned from the schools’ journeys to date, evidence suggested by the EEF and others, and the evidence that comes from working closely within all the three phases of the MAT (each phase creates its own barriers – however these are often similar within the context of the school).
