School spotlight: How the Duchess’s Community School is using the National Tutoring Programme to support studentsIn December 2020, The Duchess’s Community High School - a rural school in Northumberland with a significant pupil premium-eligible cohort - kicked off an online tuition programme to provide extra catch-up support for students, delivered by MyTutor through the government’s National Tutoring Programme.
In this session, Assistant Head Diane Murphy will share her first-hand experience of running the programme, shedding light on:
● The setup process - key things to think about when selecting pupils, involving staff, and monitoring progress
● The impact the school has seen so far from the online lessons, for pupil premium and SEND students
● Learnings and recommendations from the programme so far
About MyTutor
At MyTutor, we provide high-impact online tuition programmes, matching KS3, GCSE and A-Level students with top university tutors to reinforce classwork, boost confidence, plug learning gaps, and raise grades.
Typically funded by the pupil premium, our programmes open up access to tailored 1:1 and small group (3:1) tuition for disadvantaged pupils – enabling them to make 1 whole grade of progress after 10 sessions, on average.
As an approved Tuition Partner on the National Tutoring Programme, this year we're supporting 30,000 pupils across 600 schools with subsidised online tuition, to help narrow the attainment gap.
