A third of all wounds occur on the lower limb, with the majority of lower limb ulceration being venous hypertension, closely followed by diabetic foot infection. Over the last few decades, there has been a plethora of high-quality published research studies into these conditions, which provides a robust foundation of clinical efficacy. However, despite the amount and level of research there remains significant unwarranted variation of care across the globe, including prevention, treatment and management of care. This session will explore the evidence base, discuss how this has shaped best practice in differing nations focusing on the challenging faced by many patients, professionals and healthcare systems.
