Strandesen Consult ApS | Independent Advisor in Low Carbon Marine Fuels
Maria Strandesen is an independent consultant and former Head of Future Fuels at Maersk, where she spent five years shaping the company’s decarbonization strategy and defining the future fuel mix for a fleet of more than 700 vessels. Her work spanned technical assessments, commercial negotiations, legislative interpretation, and sustainability evaluations—giving her a uniquely holistic view of how large multinationals make bold energy‑transition decisions.

Having witnessed Maersk’s journey from a three‑person innovation corner to a 200‑strong Energy Transition unit, Maria brings rare insight into how ambitious fuel strategies are built, scaled, and executed. Today, through her consultancy Strandesen Consult, she helps companies navigate the complexities of low‑carbon marine fuels and design credible, actionable transition strategies.

As moderator of “What Will Fuel the Ships of Tomorrow?”, Maria will draw on her experience advising shipowners, fuel producers, and investors to illuminate how the shipping sector thinks, decides, and invests—and what that means for the wider energy ecosystem.

StormGeo | Global Head of Bunker
With 18 years of maritime experience, Julie has excelled as a tanker operator, bunker buyer, oil refinery trader, and is now Global Head of Bunker Sales at StormGeo.

In a previous role, Julie established an internal bunker desk for a major tanker operator, where she learned the critical importance of digitalizing bunker management. Overcoming numerous internal and external challenges, she demonstrated how digitalization breaks down silos and optimizes the largest OPEX cost.

While digital transparency in the bunker industry remains a challenge, Julie understands the hurdles commercial operators face. She assists them in making strategic changes to optimize their bunker planning and procurement via StormGeo Bunker Management.

Emphasizing the growing complexity of the bunker industry due to evolving regulations, Julie counsels that those who stay at the well-known berth for too long risk falling far behind their competitors.

Her expertise ensures that clients stay ahead in this dynamic and fast-changing sector.
