Applying its patented technology and a hybrid approach, PepsiCo is using additive manufacturing as an enabler in various aspects of bottle development—accelerating and enhancing performance simulation, advanced system analysis and the production of high-quality, functional prototypes. In working with Nexa3D, PepsiCo has been able to make molds that can withstand 10,000 shots—a dramatic improvement of their previous best of about 100.

Thangthip is a packaging engineer in PepsiCo Advanced Design & Engineering Group, part of Global R&D. She leads the R&D Advanced Rapid Prototyping Strategy pillar for the beverages category, and works in close collaboration with packaging developers, industrial designers and other cross-functional partners to accelerate packaging development and innovation. Thangthip graduated from UMass Lowell with a bachelor's and master's degree in plastics engineering. Thangthip's interests consist of but are not limited to material science, research and development, injection molding, rapid prototyping/additive manufacturing, and project management.
