Brian Michael Cooper

Member, Frost Brown Todd LLC

Brian has served as president of two professional sports teams, most recently the XFL Houston Roughnecks, where he received recognition for his work in the national media. A four-time Super Lawyers Texas Rising Star with over 20 years of experience as an attorney, executive, and advisor, Brian has guided sports, entertainment, media, retail, finance, and energy companies through all aspects of corporate transactions and operations projects. His transactional practice has included the negotiation of player and coach contracts, marketing, licensing, and sponsorship agreements, arena, stadium and facility leases, operating agreements, and content distribution agreements. As president of the NBA G-League RGV Vipers, he negotiated the first hybrid affiliation agreement between an NBA team and NBA G-League team. In addition, Brian is also active in the Houston community including his service as a member on the boards of Positive Coaching Alliance and Longitude.

Jon Fagg

Deputy Director of Athletics, University of Arkansas

Jon Fagg joined the University of Arkansas in June 2008. He is a member of the department’s executive staff and assists the vice chancellor and director of athletics in the daily administration of the department.

Fagg also provides direct oversight of the department’s development efforts and NCAA compliance program as well as serving as the sport administrator for football. Fagg came to Arkansas after spending seven years at North Carolina State. Hired on March 2001, he served 4 1/2 years as an assistant athletics director for compliance before being promoted to associate athletics director for compliance during the fall of 2005.

Malaika Underwood

SVP, Licensing at OneTeam Partners

Malaika Underwood has worked in the college sports industry for over 15 years and was a scholarship athlete at the University of North at Chapel Hill. Currently, Underwood is Senior Vice President, Licensing at OneTeam Partners, where she leads the company’s efforts to navigate the collegiate sports marketplace strengthened by her vast knowledge of group player rights.

A former IMG Worldwide executive, Underwood is developing a new business platform at OneTeam – a sports company launched by the NFLPA, MLBPA and RedBird Capital Partners that unleashes the collective power of world-class athletes to drive business and provide access to athlete rights through group licensing, athlete marketing, media, and investing.

Emily Caron

Sports Business Reporter, Sportico

Emily is a junior sports business reporter at Sportico, focusing on college and women's sports. Prior to joining, Emily spent two years at Sports Illustrated, covering news and college sports, before entering the sports business world. She has also written for ESPN, espnW, CBS Sports, SB Nation, Tom Brady and Michael Strahan’s Religion of Sports and more.

Daniel Libit

Reporter, Sportico

Daniel Libit writes about college sports for Sportico. He previously co-founded The Intercollegiate, an investigative college sports outlet that gained national attention for its inventive use of public records reporting. Libit spent over a decade covering national politics for Politico, National Journal, The Daily, and CNBC.com, before launching an independent blog dedicated to investigating the University of New Mexico’s athletic department. In 2017, the New York Times profiled Libit and his exploits as, “The Blogger Who Became One University’s Scold.” Libit and his family reside in suburban Chicago.

Michael McCann

Legal Analyst and Senior Sports Legal Reporter, Sportico

Michael McCann is a Legal Analyst and Senior Sports Legal Reporter at Sportico. Prior to joining Sportico, he was a Legal Analyst and Staff Writer for Sports Illustrated from 2007 to 2020. McCann is also an attorney and Professor of Law at the University of New Hampshire Franklin Pierce School of Law, where he is Director of the Sports and Entertainment Law Institute. He is the Editor of the "Oxford University Press Handbook of American Sports Law" and, with Ed O'Bannon, co-author of "Court Justice: The Inside Story of My Battle Against the NCAA." McCann has also authored more than 20 book chapters and law review articles, including placements in the Yale Law Journal and Boston College Law Review. He holds degrees from Harvard Law School, the University of Virginia School of Law and Georgetown University. McCann resides in Andover, Mass., with his wife and their daughter.

Eben Novy-Williams

Sports Business Reporter, Sportico

Eben Novy-Williams is a sports business reporter and podcast host at Sportico, a news venture launched earlier this year by Penske Media.

Prior to joining Sportico, Novy-Williams spent nine years covering the intersection of money and sports at Bloomberg News. His writing has appeared online, in Businessweek magazine and in newspapers across the country. He was also co-host of the Bloomberg Business of Sports podcast.
