Academic Spotlight: Mineral Resource Throughput Management Model for Improving the Performance of Mines
About
Join us for a TOCICO Academic Spotlight examining the paper Mineral Resource Throughput Management Model for Improving the Performance of Mines.
The paper presents a management model developed from the Theory of Constraints to help mining managers improve the financial performance of a mine throughout its life. Built on the five pillars of TOC, the model focuses on three interactive constraints that provide practical leverage points for improving Throughput while minimizing Investment and Operating Expense.
During this Academic Spotlight, the author will explain the logic behind the model, discuss how managers can exploit and subordinate to the three interactive constraints, and explore the shift from maximizing production volume to maximizing Throughput and improving mineral flow.
The session will also introduce how this model forms the foundation of the two-year Master of Science in Mineral Resource Management program at the University of the Free State in South Africa.
