The University of Tasmania is the only university on the island of lutrawita/Tasmania and has a crucial role to play within community, to improve and positively impact on 6 key areas: education, health, social, economic, culture and sustainability. As one of many of the Library’s strategic priorities we are collaborating with the GLAM sector in Tasmania to improve the discoverability of, and seamless access to, the State’s cultural assets. Embedding our cultural collections into the curriculum of schools and the University, engaging our students to be involved in the project to learn digital and cultural skills.

Opportunities like these do not often present themselves and sharing tools, platforms and expertise with librarians, curators, historians, and cultural institutions across the state is an exciting endeavour. This also presents an opportunity to consider how we can use reading lists to improve access to indigenous collections, 3D objects and supplement exhibition programs.
