Curriculum Design Specialist & Author, Former QCA Curriculum Advisor, Former Teacher & School Leader
David Gardner is a freelance educational consultant, and successful author, with a wealth of experience in schools, universities and at a national policy level. He was a Lecturer in Secondary Initial Teacher Education (geography) at UCL Institute of Education, until August 2018. He also led geography ITT at Goldsmiths and the Open University. David was national geography adviser at the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority (QCA) from 2005 to 2011. He was a secondary school teacher for 28 years, and a deputy headteacher.
David leads CPD for teachers about assessment and curriculum design in geography. He works with schools to develop coherent KS3 and 4 curriculum that plan for pupil progress, with assessment at its heart.
In 2018, he was the lead author and editor of a new ‘best-selling’ Key Stage 3 geography textbook course, published by Hodder Education – Progress in Geography KS3.
