This program provides an in-depth exploration of IRS collection processes, the variety of collection alternatives available, and a detailed guide to understanding IRS notices. Participants will learn how to effectively represent taxpayers in collections cases, understand the grounds and procedures for audit reconsiderations, innocent spouse relief, and offers in compromise. The course also covers strategic responses to various IRS notices, from the initial balance due to final notices of intent to levy.

Tax Professionals that attend are encouraged to accept a pro bono tax controversy case assignment from NYCLA, an ABA-sponsored Tax Court Pro program or a NY or NJ low-income Tax Clinic.
