Frederik Simoens
CTO, ST Engineering iDirect
Frederik Simoens is the Chief Technology Officer at ST Engineering iDirect, where he is responsible for the oversight of all technology decisions and serves to drive the strategic direction for product development, technology roadmap and technology alliances.

Previously, Simoens worked at Newtec where he worked on physical layer technologies, launched the DVB-S2X standard within Newtec’s platform, and in 2015, became VP of product management, which led to a promotion to CTO.

His key areas of expertise include physical layer technologies, satellite communications and digital modems. He is also a guest lecturer at the University of Ghent and is the author of 40+ publications.

Simoens obtained a Master degree in electrical engineering and a Ph.D. degree in digital communications, both from the University of Ghent. He also holds an MBA degree from the Vlerick Business School.

Bart Van Poucke
VP Product Management, ST Engineering iDirect
Bart Van Poucke, VP Products at ST Engineering iDirect, is responsible for the complete products and service portfolio. Bart entered the satellite world by joining Newtec in 2010 working in product management and marketing.

Bart has been active for almost 25 years in the telecom industry in various positions. He obtained his electrical engineering degree at the polytechnic KU Leuven, Campus Ghent, Belgium in 1996. After several years at Siemens Private Networks, he joined the imec in Leuven, Belgium to work in wireless R&D and business development later on. His drive is to introduce technologies that enable new applications and business models for a more connected world.

Sean Yarborough
VP Product Management, ST Engineering iDirect
Sean Yarborough is a Vice President of Product Management at ST Engineering iDirect. In this role, Yarborough oversees the strategies for iDirect’s platform portfolio which includes managing the entire lifecycle from conception to end of life.

Prior to joining ST Engineering iDirect, Sean was a Vice President of Service Assurance, with Spirent Communications, where he managed a portfolio of mature and new service assurance solutions for voice, video, and data services in the telecommunications and enterprise markets. These solutions ranged from traditional hardware appliances to SaaS based solutions. At Spirent, Sean advised leading service providers around the world on best practices for activating, monitoring, and troubleshooting business, wireless, and residential services.

With over 25 years of experience in the IT, mobile, telecom, and satellite markets, Sean offers a unique blend of knowledge and cross-functional experience to educate the global community on the importance of satellite technology and its continued alignment with telco initiatives. He has a BS in Electrical Engineering (University of Virginia) and an MBA (University of Maryland - College Park).

Stephen Tunnicliffe
SVP Global Sales, ST Engineering iDirect
Steve Tunnicliffe joined ST Engineering iDirect in September 2007 from British Telecom where he supported the Global Services organization in the sale of satellite-based connectivity solutions from BT Media & Broadcast. He entered the satellite industry in 2000 working for Loral (now Telesat) heading up Business Development for EMEA. Prior to joining the satellite industry, he spent 6 years working for the leading Middle East broadcaster, MBC, in marketing, sponsorship and airtime sales where he eventually ran the Marketing Department. Steve has a BA (Hons) in Arabic and Middle East Studies from Durham University and an MBA from Durham Business School. He is currently a Durham Leadership Academy Mentor and has been an MBA Mentor for the past 7 years. He has spent much of his life traveling, living, and working in the Middle East and East Africa.
