Join us for the third and final webinar in our series looking at how close we are to ‘The Tipping Point’ for polymer banknotes, a title drawn from David Tidmarsh’s 2016 article in Currency News.
After more than 300 years of paper banknotes, the Bank of England completed its full transition to polymer in 2021. Later in 2022, all paper notes remaining in circulation will cease to be legal tender – ending three centuries of tradition as the age of polymer becomes fully entrenched in the English economy.
David Tidmarsh will host the webinar as Toby Davies, Head of Notes Operations, from the Bank of England, explains the reasoning behind the move to polymer, the research that went into the choice, and how the transition was achieved successfully.
This webinar is free and open to Central Banks and Issuing Authorities only.
