Charlie McKinlay is Fuels and Technologies Lead at Lloyd’s Register Maritime Decarbonisation Hub, focusing on clean maritime fuel value chains and the transition to zero-emission shipping.

He leads technical work for key initiatives including Zero Emission Maritime Buyers Alliance (ZEMBA) and The Silk Alliance, supporting the adoption of sustainable fuels and assessing e-fuel supply readiness. Charlie is also a co-author of The Future of Maritime Fuels, a major review of alternative fuel pathways for shipping.

He holds a PhD in Dynamic Energy System Modelling from University of Southampton, with research focused on zero-emission shipping technologies, fuel cells, and energy management systems.
