About
This year has seen solar manufacturers begin what is shaping up to be a major shift toward n-type technologies, and investors are keen to see these technologies in action in ‘real world’ installations. In this pv magazine Webinar, we take a look at the latest in TOPCon technology from one of n-type’s earliest backers, and share case study details from one developer already installing these modules and monitoring their performance in the field.

As manufacturers of solar cells and modules continue their search for ever higher energy yields, a switch from p-type to n-type cells has emerged as the best strategy. Many of the largest players in PV manufacturing have been busy making this switch in 2022, and we are beginning to see installations large and small taking up TOPCon and Heterojunction modules in much larger numbers.

China’s Jolywood was among the first to advocate TOPCon (tunnel oxide passivated contact) cells in large-scale manufacturing, and its work has been key in developing several of the new processes that this new technology requires. And we’ll be joined in this webinar by Ellen Ma, product manager at Jolywood, who will take us through the company’s latest offering – a TOPCon module targeted at the residential market. We’ll hear about the technologies behind this module, including Jolywood’s proprietary POPAID (plasma oxidation and plasma assisted in-situ doping) tools, and the advantages that these create in the end-product.

And to see how these reported advantages play out in the field, Florian Mechler, product manager with German distributor and solutions provider IBC SOLAR, will share case studies from installations already putting these modules to good use. We’ll have time also for a closer look at recent trends in cell and module technology, and both speakers will be available to answer audience questions.

pv magazine Webinar content:
