The 100% Fish for Profit Webinar will take place on Tuesday 2 June 2026 from 11:00 - 11:45 BST.
Discover how the seafood industry is unlocking new revenue streams by transforming underutilised and discarded parts of the catch into high-value products for non-food sectors. From innovation and biotechnology to sustainability and profitability, this exclusive bite-size webinar will offer a preview of the key themes, insights, and opportunities set to shape the 100% Fish for Profit Conference in Iceland on 23–24 September 2026.
Supported by the Iceland Ocean Cluster, the webinar will be moderated by Dr Alexandra Leeper and feature an expert panel including Donna Fordyce, Runar Gjerp Solstad, María Dis Ólafsdottir, Ben Perry and Benedek Regoczi.
Join industry leaders as they explore how collaboration, innovation, and full utilisation of marine resources can drive both profitability and sustainability across the global seafood sector.
Presenters
Dr Alexandra Leeper
CEO, Iceland Ocean Cluster
Alexandra Leeper works at the intersection of seafood, circular economy and industrial infrastructure, helping companies and regions redesign how they use their resources so value is created rather than wasted. Based in Iceland, she is CEO of the Iceland Ocean Cluster, an innovation community bringing the blue economy together so good ideas can thrive. Iceland has pioneered the 100% Fish model, a globally referenced case for full-value utilization in seafood and is now supporting the adaptation and transfer of this model around the world along with a growing ecosystem of Global Sister Ocean Clusters. The Iceland Ocean Cluster is now fundraising for the venture fund, Blue Nova Ventures, and Alexandra acts as the Global Ecosystem Lead, connecting the international community of blue entrepreneurs.
Alexandra has a PhD in sustainable aquaculture and the circular economy, a master’s in marine Environment and Resources, and bachelor’s in marine biology and Oceanography. In 2025, she founded Hringvarmi, a circular heat innovation that captures excess heat from industry to power local food production.
Donna Fordyce
Chief Executive, Seafood Scotland
Donna has over 20 years of experience working in economic development to foster business growth and international trade.
As Chief Executive of Seafood Scotland, she has been instrumental in driving growth, supporting international trade and securing the future of the Scottish seafood industry.

Runar G. Solstad
Senior Scientist Marine Biotechnology, Nofima
Runar Gjerp Solstad is a senior scientist in marine biotechnology at Nofima the Norwegian institute of food fisheries and aquaculture research where he started working in 2016.
He holds a PhD from UiT The Arctic University of Norway focused on isolation and characterisation of novel marine antimicrobial peptides.
Current research focuses primarily on utilisation of marine side-streams into food and feed. This is an ongoing research effort to increase the utilisation of marine species beyond the current level. Common methods include enzymatic hydrolysis, TGA, HPLC-pda, spray drying and filtration techniques in addition to working on the scalability of these processes from laboratory to pilot scale.
María Dís Ólafsdóttir
CEO, Nanna Lín
María Dís Ólafsdóttir was born and raised on a sheep farm in Northeast Iceland. Growing up surrounded by nature, biomass, and the potential hidden within byproducts inspired her early interest in science and unconventional value creation. From a young age, she was fascinated by the idea of transforming overlooked materials into something useful.
Creativity has always been a big part of María’s life, often centered around making the most of what is already available. For her, the dream has always been to create something valuable out of what others might consider waste.
María holds a B.Sc. in Biotechnology from the University of Akureyri and an M.Sc. in Bioengineering from the University of Iceland. She is currently pursuing a PhD in biotechnology at the University of Akureyri. During her studies, she formed close connections within the fisheries sector and was introduced to the possibilities of fish skin through various research projects. She immediately recognized its untapped potential.
Today, María lives in Akureyri with her partner and their two-year-old son. Since the spring of 2022, she has led the Nanna Lín project and oversees its daily operations. Working with byproducts and connecting discarded resources to innovative, high-value products has long been one of her personal ambitions. Together with the growing Nanna Lín team, she is helping bridge the worlds of fish and fashion through sustainability, innovation, and craftsmanship.
