This lecture will provide updates on management of gastrointestinal symptoms particularly as they relate to the impact of gastrointestinal malignancy and treatment side effects. Topic areas will include nausea and vomiting, bowel obstruction, dysphagia and cancer-related gastrointestinal bleeding.

    Anthony Byrne is a Cardiff based consultant in palliative medicine practicing in the acute setting. He is also Clinical Director of the Marie Curie Research Centre and Honorary Professor in the School of Medicine, Cardiff University. He has over 20 years’ experience in specialist palliative care practice across cancer and non-cancer illnesses. His clinical research interests are in all aspects of palliative rehabilitation, patient resilience for anti-cancer treatment, and the patient experience of research. He is also committed to ensuring at pace knowledge transfer and leads PaCERS (Palliative Care Evidence Review Service) - a rapid review service aimed at multi-professional clinicians.
