About
This webinar will focus on burnout from the perspective of expats living abroad.

Rather than looking at burnout as a purely workplace issue, we will explore how work-related stress can combine with the additional pressures of expat life, such as cultural adjustment, limited support networks, and the mental load of navigating an unfamiliar country and healthcare system.

The webinar will have three main aims:

- Help participants recognize, prevent, and recover from burnout. This will include identifying early warning signs, understanding risk factors that may make internationals particularly vulnerable, setting boundaries, managing stress, and building habits that support recovery and reduce the risk of burnout recurring.

- Explain how to navigate the Dutch system when burnout affects the ability to work. For example, we will discuss how to request sick leave, the role of the employer, salary continuation, and what employees can expect during the process.

- Discuss how psychotherapy can support a more individualized and in-depth recovery process. We will discuss some of the factors that may contribute to burnout, introduce the therapeutic approaches used within our practice, and explain how they can be tailored to different needs.

We will also discuss the differences between seeing a therapist within the Dutch healthcare system and working with a therapist in private practice.

Join us, Olivia Brouillette-Wardhono and Grace O'Flaherty, fellow expats and psychologists, as we tackle the unique challenges of living abroad.
