About
The challenges facing island grids, even in sunny regions such as Greece and Southeast Europe, require careful planning and intelligent energy management. Markets such as Greece and Cyprus are already facing periods of solar curtailment, while rising renewable penetration is increasing the need for flexibility. Battery energy storage systems (BESS) can store excess solar generation and dispatch it when it is needed. BESS and microgrid configurations can provide much-needed flexible power and system resilience in remote locations, as well as in congested urban centres where commercial users depend on backup power to maintain critical operations.

Join us for this pv magazine Webinar to explore the difference a reliable energy storage strategy can make for markets such as Greece.

Dimitrios Fytros, founder and CEO of POWERFOR, will provide the market and policy perspective on Greece’s renewable energy transition, including the growing need for flexibility, curtailment, recent policy developments and their implications for C&I users, islands and the wider electricity system. Aris Georgopoulos, Country Director Greece at CESC GmbH, will add a local market perspective on what customers, EPCs and project developers are asking for in Greece and Southeast Europe.

Neo Xu, Executive Manager & Business Partner – Sales & Product Development, CESC Innovation GmbH, will move from these market needs to practical C&I storage solutions. He will explain how CESC’s Mercury 261 Hybrid can support islands, resorts, microgrids, existing PV retrofits and resilience-driven applications, and how Mercury 418 addresses medium-to-large C&I and industrial projects. The discussion will focus on practical project requirements and will briefly extend to utility-scale storage and its role in renewable integration and grid flexibility.

Yu (Yeky) Peijia, Assistant to Chairman, CESC GmbH, will provide brief context on CESC and the company’s perspective on the evolving energy storage market in Greece and Southeast Europe.
