Paul Perera
Director of Strategy and Technology Operations at Waygate Technologies
Paul Perera is Director of Strategy and Technology Operations at Waygate Technologies, a Baker Hughes business and world leader in non-destructive testing (NDT) solutions for industrial inspection. He comes from a background in 34 years Military Technology, and Aerospace Manufacturing industries.
Most recently he has delivered a successful bid for the development of a digital twin for the Battery Industrialisation Centre, a partner to Waygate Technologies, and accelerating the path to Zero Emissions, with high quality and zero scrap batteries by leveraging data science, simulation and optimisation, with UK Battery Industrialisation Centre and startups. He has led the partnerships with National Composite Centre, and Hydrogen Southwest leaning in on Liquid Hydrogen tank development and inspection options for aviation and other industrial segments.
In his last role as VP Technology and Innovation in GKN Aerospace, he led over 600 research scientists in four technology centres focused on Additive Manufacturing, Composites and advancing sustainable propulsion including Hydrogen Fuel Cell developments for Aerospace applications. He delivered on a £54M Government programme, H2GEAR, which has led to over 100 scientist and engineers accelerating the adoption of Hydrogen Propulsion for Aerospace.
