In this session, Amy Stephens will focus on the Character piece. Character pieces are gems! These songs with descriptive titles encapsulate a great deal of imagination in just a few short pages. Character pieces are great tools for developing strong visual imagery in our students. In this session, we'll look at several examples by composers like Poe, Diemer, Rossi, Hansi, George, Hartsell and Stephens. Understanding composer perspective and song construction can help us shape these pieces even more. These short songs can hopefully spark a bit of inspiration as we enjoy them together!
