Nicki is the eDisclosure / eData Manager at Travers Smith.
She is the head of the inhouse resource supporting the Travers Smith teams specialising in the technology of disclosure and data management, with a focus on project management, client and internal support, training and technical difficulties.
Her team supports the Dispute Resolution department on contentious work, as well as the Competition, Employment and Commercial, IP and Technology teams on investigations, tribunal based disclosure and Subject Access Request (SAR) disclosures; aligning the technology, appropriate workflow and guidance throughout the matter.
Nicki has worked on a number of regulatory cases, large financial investigations, internal investigations, and assisted government bodies with the review of documents, subject access requests and technology focussed matters including Artificial Intelligence, neural translation and cloud storage.
She is a regular speaker for technology awareness sessions and is one of the founding members of the Association of Certified eDiscovery Specialists (ACEDS), which has allowed her to support the niche industry of forensic technology and eDisclosure with educational seminars, documents and training. Nicki is also a member of the ILTA Special Interest Working Group for Litigation Support and eDiscovery of which created the ‘eDisclosure Exchange Protocol’, a document used industry wide. She began her two year tenure as the 'International Liaison' for the Product Planning Committee (ILTA) in 2020 to support the development of communities and education outside of the US.

He is called upon to consult on data preservation and identification, early case assessment and review strategies and the use of technology assisted review and other artificial intelligence technology. Erica Albertson, Head of eDiscovery Solutions, joined Simmons & Simmons in 2016. She is an eDiscovery professional with over 16 years of experience at international law firms and service providers in the United States, Belgium and the UK.
After more than a decade of hands-on project management experience, Erica now focuses on advising clients on the use of technology for complex investigations and disclosure exercises. Erica has led the eDiscovery Solutions department at Simmons & Simmons to become one of the most technologically advanced and creative eDiscovery teams in the UK. Her understanding of machine learning, and years of experience with technology assisted review (TAR) and continuous active learning (CAL), enables Simmons to utilise these technologies in clever and imaginative ways, creating significant time and cost efficiencies in the most complex of matters.

Her recent work includes running the TAR project for the Tchenguiz & others vs Grant Thornton UK LLP & others – a landmark judgement in that it was the first case in which the High Court confirmed that its approval was not required before using technology assisted review. She has also worked on the development of Simmons & Simmons’s DSAR Toolkit to assist clients with the ever-increasing demand from Data Subject Access Requests.
