MasterSeries 60 Minutes Interactive: Translating Convexity Characteristics into Successful Clinical Outcomes: New Evidence to Guide Practice

ABOUT THIS WEBINAR
24th April 2024
MasterSeries 60 Minutes Interactive: Translating Convexity Characteristics into Successful Clinical Outcomes for your patients (Accredited)

Wound Masterclass welcomes you to this interactive global event.

This episode focuses on optimizing outcomes for stoma care.

We are thrilled to invite you to a free, fully accredited, immersive and interactive global event designed exclusively for healthcare professionals seeking to expand their knowledge and enhance their clinical skills in ostomy management. This webinar will delve into fundamental principles and cutting-edge evidence-based strategies for optimizing outcomes for your ostomy patients.

Come and join us to find out about:

1. The diverse clinical applications across various ostomy types
2. Practical knowledge on utilizing products and techniques to improve patient outcomes
3. Essential skills for thorough ostomy assessment and effective management of pouching system challenges
4. Learn about holistic patient evaluation, peristomal skin assessment, analysis of common leakage causes, and strategic convexity selection
5. Learn a systematic approach to ensure comprehensive care

This masterclass assesses the appropriate assessment steps required in your clinical practice.

Introduction
A. Visual inspection: A step by step guide to examining the stoma and surrounding skin for signs of irritation, leakage, or abnormalities. How to assess the stoma's color, size, and protrusion, as well as the condition of the peristomal skin.

B. Pouching system evaluation: How to assess the fit and function of the pouching system, checking for proper adherence, leakage, or signs of breakdown. How to establish the patient's comfort level and any issues they may be experiencing with the system.

C. Patient education and support: How to engage the patient in a discussion about their ostomy care routine, including pouch changes, skin care, and diet. How to identify any knowledge gaps or concerns, and provide appropriate education and emotional support.

D. Awareness of skin health and the pathophysiology of moisture-associated skin damage
A guide on how to maintaining healthy skin in ostomy care will be provided.

E. Learn how to avoid moisture-associated skin damage (MASD). Find out the factors causing MASD occurs and how to avoid excessive moisture, leading to maceration, erosion, and potential breakdown.

Finding the 10 common reasons for leaking of a pouching system

Identify common reasons for convexity selection in ostomy care

Review the 5 characteristics of convexity, and when considering a convex pouching system, it is important to understand the five key characteristics that define and differentiate convex products:

1. Depth of convexity

2. Convexity gradient

3. Convexity flexibility

4. Convexity shape

5. Convexity attachment

Understanding and considering these five characteristics can help healthcare professionals and individuals with ostomies select the most appropriate convex pouching system for their specific needs and preferences.

Finite Element Analysis (FEA) modeling is a computational technique used to analyze and predict the behavior of structures under various loads and conditions. In the context of convex pouching systems, FEA modeling can be employed to identify potential areas of tension or stress concentration. Two common tension locations identified through FEA modeling are presented.

Participants will gain insights into identifying appropriate convexity characteristics based on stoma anatomy, body contours, and potential complications. Techniques like finite element analysis modeling will be explored to optimize convexity profiles and mitigate tension points. Through interactive case studies, clinicians will enhance their ability to match convex product features to individual patient needs.

This masterclass aims to provide a comprehensive educational experience, empowering clinicians with the latest evidence-based approaches to deliver superior ostomy care and improve patient outcomes.

Assessment of the Ostomy: Master the art of ostomy assessment to accurately select the appropriate products and interventions. Acquire necessary skills to develop a comprehensive treatment plan tailored to individual patient needs. Gain a comprehensive understanding of factors influencing successful ostomy management and patient prognosis.

Join us for this engaging event and connect with leading experts in the field of stoma technology. Through interactive presentations, case discussions, and Q&A sessions, you will gain valuable insights, practical skills, and evidence-based knowledge to elevate your clinical practice.
