In this program, OM SYSTEM ambassador Emilie Talpin will immerse you in the world of water drop photography, also known as refraction. If you are not familiar with this term, refraction is when the light passes from one medium and into another, affecting the direction of the light. In macro photography, the capture of a background subject into a foreground water drop is a good illustration of refraction. We will learn how to capture such images and go over the equipment needed as well as techniques and tips to make a successful photo.

    Emilie Talpin
OM System Pro Ambassador, Photo Instructor
She is a New England based photographer. Her primary subjects are wildlife and more recently she embarked on a macro-photography journey, discovering the life that blooms within our gardens. Over the last few years, she has been encouraged and inspired by members of the Seacoast Camera Club and is a participant in the Olympus Break Free Program.

Originally from Chalon, France, where photography was invented, she moved to the United States in 2004, fell in love with the state and stayed. When not out taking photos and exploring her surroundings, Emilie is a full-time teacher at Saint Anselm College, where she teaches mostly French classes. She is also the Vice President of the AMerican Association of French Teachers in New Hampshire and dedicates her time with her colleagues to promote French in our beautiful state. If she wasn't a photographer, Emilie would probably be out chasing tornadoes or taking groups into the jungles of Costa Rica.
