Culture impacts victims in a variety of complex ways that are often unaddressed or misunderstood in the system. From the identification of abuse and maltreatment in the home to help-seeking behavior (whether formal or informal), cultural norms can dictate a victim’s response. Issues of sexual identity, hidden systemic racism, and cultural “excuse making” will be addressed as well. (90 minutes)* 1.5 CE credits
