Javier Arevalo
Global and Founding Partner Goldratt Group
Since childhood, science has been my passion. Inspired by Jacques Cousteau, I dreamed of exploring the oceans, but I ended up diving into an even more unpredictable ecosystem: the business world. I quickly realized that, just like in nature, organizations need balance, adaptation, and constant feedback to survive. Oh, and coffee. Lots of coffee. A Good Macchiato please!!! My professional journey has been a mix of science and strategy. I hold a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the University of Notre Dame and a postdoc from Texas A&M, but instead of staying in a lab, I decided to apply scientific principles to business management. I spent a decade at Procter & Gamble, leading product development and process improvements for brands everyone has used (I need it less and less) .In 2004, my career took a new turn when I joined Goldratt Consulting as a founding partner and Director for Latin America, working directly with the legendary Dr. Eliyahu Goldratt, creator of the Theory of Constraints (TOC). Since then, I have led TOC implementations across the continent, helping businesses optimize supply chains, improve productivity of their plants and projects, and transform operations, maintenance. I’ve worked with industry leaders such as Bridgestone, Bosch, P&G, Cementos Argos, Crystal, Vale, Braskem, Yara, Mosaic, Isringhausen, CBMM, and many others, proving that chaos can turn into order with the right strategy. Beyond consulting, I have invested time to teaching and writing. I have written several books, including: "Forget the Urgent" – A guide to stop living in constant crisis mode and solve the supply chain and learn how to solve conflicts. "Building Focus" – A manual on developing strategic focus in business and life, and managing a construction company, where we propose a new way of running projects. "Unlock Life’s Constraints" – Applying TOC principles to personal growth and success, to answer the most fundamental and critical questions. How to live a Meaningful Life. "Handbook for Implementation of CCPM" – A key reference from Dave Updegrove, on project management using TOC, translated into Spanish and Portuguese. I’ve also been actively involved in education initiatives, including TOC for Education and leadership programs for young professionals, at many business schools and universities across the continent in Florida, Ohio, Mexico, Ecuador, Colombia, Venezuela, Argentina, Peru and Chile. My interest is simple: help companies in Latin America thrive and generate wealth, because when businesses succeed, the entire region benefits.
