Lincoln Law Masterclass: Company Law & Corporate Accountability

ABOUT THIS WEBINAR
Join our live Lincoln Law Masterclass on Wednesday 22 March at 9pm to find out more about company law, corporate accountability, and the global impact that businesses have on society.

For many years, company law in the United Kingdom took a ‘hands off’ approach, imposing minimal requirements upon businesses to consider the impact of their activities on society as a whole.

The Companies Act 2006 introduced section 172, to encourage company directors to accept greater corporate accountability for social and environmental harms. This, alongside other reforms in corporate reporting, clearly intended to bring about greater corporate accountability.

Hosted by Dr Mike Varney, Head of Lincoln Law School, our Masterclass will aim to explain and evaluate current company law in the United Kingdom and consider whether adequate accountability mechanisms exist.

Dr Mike Varney, Head of Lincoln Law School, is a leading specialist in administrative law, local government law and transparency. He maintains a scholarly interest in company law and employment law and has contributed to academic textbooks and practitioners' works in those fields.
