This will also be your forum to pitch in a socially relevant Fintech business idea addressing the disruptions caused by Covid 19. You will combine your knowledge and ideas in the areas of finance and technology to harness a business relevant synergy. While doing so you will make the pitch socially pertinent to address the current Covid 19 situation. This session will eventually culminate in a competition. This ‘Pitch Perfect – SFBI’ will entertain presentation papers from all final year Undergraduate students from any discipline of study.

Mr. Velanand has extensive experience in higher education, especially in the area of institutional building. His role has been to spearhead efforts to establish and develop the Center of Excellence in UAE, and in partnering with international professional certification programs. Prior to this he has worked with the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad and was instrumental in setting up the IIM at Shillong. Mr. Velanand has a Master’s degree in Public Administration from the University of Madras and a Master’s in International Relations from Syracuse University’s prestigious Maxwell School.
Shanthi Rajan (FHEA, AMCILT, EICP)

Shanthi RAJAN is a senior HR professional with a cumulative 29 years of experience in HR and academia. Shanthi is the Director – Institution Development of University of Stirling, RAK campus and SQA (Scottish Qualifications Authority) Diplomas. She moved to academia in 2009 and has taught in many academic institutes of repute in UAE, Vietnam, Sri Lanka and Malaysia.
She was recently awarded the Commendation award for 2020 Teaching Impact (Individual category) from University of Stirling, UK. She holds a Master’s degree with specialization in Strategic Human Resources Management from the University of Wollongong, and is currently pursuing her Doctorate in Education Leadership (USA). She is an affiliate member of CILT (UK) and a Fellow of Higher Education Academy (UK). She is a certified S+EI coach from the Institute for Social and Emotional Intelligence (ISEI), Denver, Colorado and also certified in using Positive Psychology for coaching S+EI. She is also a certified ICF approved ECI Practitioner. She serves as an Advisory Board Member for a few academic institutions of repute. She has completed her Postgraduate certification (PGCert) in teaching and learning from UK and her Higher Education Teaching Certificate from Derek Bok Centre of Teaching and Learning, Harvard University.
Dr. Soofi Anwar SFHEA
Director Academics
Dr. Soofi Anwar is the Director Academics of University of Stirling RAK, UAE Campus. He has over 20 years of experience in teaching and academic leadership at higher education level in leading universities in UAE, Bahrain and India. He is a Senior Fellow of Higher Education Academy. He was conferred the prestigious Middle East Education Leadership Award, as the Best Professor in Management-2018 in recognition of his academic excellence, exemplary leadership in higher education. Prior to his current role, he has worked on leadership position in Birla Institute of Technology Offshore Campus RAK. He has completed his Ph.D. in Management and holds MBA in Marketing. He has published research papers in leading management journals and international conferences proceedings. He is a member of editorial board of two leading management journals and engaged in reviewing faculty research publications in the area of management and marketing.
