About This Crash Course
A 2 week SAT crash course to raise SAT scores, reduce test anxiety, and boost exam confidence!
Lesson 1: Diagnostic testing and an introduction to SAT strategy and tricks.
Lesson 2: Cracking the Writing Section by learning grammar rules and using SoFlo's in-house proprietary curriculum.
Lesson 3: Developing a strategy for the Reading Section.
Lesson 4: Learning Tricks and Fundamentals to succeed on the Math Section.
Lesson 5: Tips, tricks, and practice for last-minute success!
TEACHING STYLE:
We've been through the process ourselves and understand that strategies, confidence, and reducing anxiety are the key factors to success. Our 3 step process is to:
1) Take past exam questions and break down the core concepts being tested so students understand the fundamentals
2) Teach students to recognize the core concept each question is actually asking. The SAT is simple but the questions are worded to confuse you
3) Teach tricks so that once students recognize and know the concept they can answer the question faster by applying testing strategies
LEARNING GOALS:
We have two goals at SoFlo
1) Boost SAT scores. On average students improve 160 points are 8 weeks of lessons.
2) Motivate students to do their homework and commit to studying. Studying is like going to the gym. If a student doesn't put in the work they won't grow strong. If we can make sessions enjoyable by building student-tutor chemistry, students will be more excited to complete the homework and commit to sessions.
COURSE TEMPLATE:
- Small group classes of less than 10 students
- Our sessions are run through a video chat with an interactive whiteboard
- We allow our students to save the lessons in order to go over them later
- Our instructors all scored in the top 1%, have helped dozens of students get into top universities, and understand the importance of confidence and reducing test-taking anxiety for score improvement
- We send parents weekly progress reports on our software so that they are always up to date with their child's progress
