This What’s New in VA One webinar presents the latest technical enhancements aimed at improving efficiency, scalability, and solution capability for large‑scale aerospace and marine vibro‑acoustic simulations. The update introduces new workflow, solver, and usability features that address some of the most common limitations encountered in high‑fidelity coupled structural–acoustic analyses.
Key new features:
-Coupled FE‑BEM Workflow
-H‑Matrix Direct Coupled BEM Formulation
-Group Node (“Lasso”) Selection Tool
The new Coupled FE‑BEM Workflow is designed to significantly accelerate model building for coupled structural–acoustic problems. It streamlines the setup and connection between finite‑element structural models and boundary‑element acoustic domains, reducing manual intervention and setup complexity. This is particularly beneficial for aerospace vibro‑acoustic qualification, where large FE models must be efficiently coupled to surrounding acoustic domains and iterated across multiple configurations. By simplifying the coupling process, the workflow reduces setup time while maintaining a physically consistent FE‑BEM formulation.
The H‑Matrix Direct Coupled BEM formulation represents a major advance in solver capability, especially for marine and underwater acoustics applications. By applying H‑matrix compression techniques to the coupled BEM system, this formulation enables faster calculations and substantially reduced memory requirements. As a result, simulations can be extended to higher frequency ranges while supporting significantly larger models than traditional dense BEM approaches. This is particularly relevant for underwater noise radiation and scattering problems, where computational cost has historically limited frequency range and geometric detail.
Finally, the Group Node (“Lasso”) Selection Tool provides a general productivity enhancement applicable across all VA One workflows. It enables efficient selection and management of node groups in large models, improving interaction during model setup, modification, and post‑processing.
Together, these enhancements strengthen VA One’s ability to address complex, large‑scale vibro‑acoustic problems in aerospace and marine engineering with improved efficiency and computational performance.
