The MONTBLANC HAUS is an experience that inspires. Located in direct proximity to our headquarters in Hamburg, the MONTBLANC HAUS invites visitors from all over the world to discover and rediscover the power of writing.

PERMANENT EXHIBITION: INSPIRE WRITING

Discover original handwritings of icons such as Ernest Hemingway, Frida Kahlo, or Jackie Chan, and over 410 Montblanc writing instruments, from historical fountain pens to the latest models. Learn about the story of the startup that later became Montblanc, and take a look behind the scenes of the team that crafts our most exclusive writing instruments. Find out how our nibs are made and dive even deeper into the world of writing with our 360° immersive experience.

TEMPORARY EXHIBITION: WORDS & VOYAGES

The story of Montblanc is more than a journey
from Hamburg out into the world. Travel itself
is part of that story. After all, the fountain pen
made it possible to write with ink while on the
move—without the need for quill or inkwell.
Our temporary exhibition invites you to explore
the world of travel more deeply. When did it
begin? How has travel shaped writing? And how
has writing shaped travel?
Be inspired by travel stories, then take a seat
and put pen to paper. At our creative table,
you can even design your own travel journal
for your next journey.

Did you know these facts about the MONTBLANC HAUS?

The Origin In Hamburg’s Sternschanzen district, there has already been a “MONTBLANC HAUS”. It was home to Montblanc’s headquarter and manufacturing facility from the 1930s to the late 1980s.
The shape of the MONTBLANC HAUS is a homage to a historical writing instrument packaging
5 original handwritten texts from Nobel prize laureates are exhibited in our autograph library.
2.3 mm: The smallest Montblanc emblem is engraved into the nib of a historical fountain pen.
The Oldest Object 18th century: Nothing in the MONTBLANC HAUS is older than the autograph of philosopher Voltaire. But that’s just a small part of the MONTBLANC HAUS. Inside you will find: 412 writing instruments, 167 showcases, 28 screens, 7 writing desks, and the people who love writing as much as you do.

MONTBLANC HAUS FAQ

Everything you need to know to best prepared for your visit.

Free parking is available. You will find the parking lots right in front the building.
The exhibition areas are wheelchair and stroller accessible. Mobile seating is available in the exhibition, please speak to our staff if required.
Photography is allowed in MONTBLANC HAUS without flash. Please note that photography is prohibited in the manufacturing facility.
For the protection of other visitors and the animals themselves, pets are not allowed in the MONTBLANC HAUS (except for assistance dogs).
We recommend a tour for children 12 years and older. For more information on alternative programs for younger children, please contact visit@montblanc.de .
