A riguardo

The selection of safety devices such as transmitters, switches , systems and valves is crucial in the reliability implementation design of a SIF and must be carefully justified.
IEC 61508 and IEC61511 standards come to our aid with several models and selection processes, however, which require considerations such as the quality of the reliability data source and its uncertainty, type of device use, service, device performance, and more.
Therefore, selection can be done through the 1H/1S route as suggested or according to the 2H/2S route (proven in use justification) as suggested by IEC61508 or it can be selected according to IEC61511 ("prior use" justification).

We will see in this webinar what the definitions of these two concepts are and how they affect architectural constraints in the design of safety functions.
