The IEA Center for Teaching and Learning is proud to continue a great tradition with the renewal of this marquee professional development event. The theme of the 2021 Summer Institute is Virtually Together, as we reach out through technology to help IEA members be the best educators they can be—and advance their careers in the process. This is a 4-day conference and you can earn one credit for each full-day that you attend - earn up to four credits when you attend all four days! You will set your own daily schedule by choosing the classes you want to attend after you register.

As you explore the six session tracks below, you’ll find classes created to meet your needs where you are in your career and in the changing education landscape. We included the Self-Preservation track to help take care of you and give you tools to protect yourself in your profession. The Union Strong track is devoted to helping you find and amplify your voice for your students and your profession.

Session Tracks

  • Leadership & Mentoring

    In the Leadership and Mentoring track, we'll explore concepts related to what it means to be a leader in your classroom, in your building, and in the education profession. Learn how to go beyond your own leadership and help others to become leaders.

  • Trending Ideas & Leading Research

    In the Trending Ideas and Leading Research track, we'll explore concepts related to expanding your students' educational experiences and helping them to see themselves and our world as a place where everyone can grow and thrive.

  • Classroom Basics

    In the Classroom Basics track, we'll explore new techniques to take your classroom performance to the next level, as well as improve student engagement, ability to differentiate, and think outside the box about how you deal with classroom management.

  • Technology

    In the Technology track, we'll explore the tricks of the tech trade to move your online instruction to the head of the class. This class will help you build confidence using technology whether you're teaching online or in a classroom. Update your skills and learn about new resources.

  • Self-Preservation

    In the Self-Preservation track, we hope to convince you that you can't take care of others until you take care of yourself. In this track, it is all about you.

  • Union Strong

    In the Union Strong track, we'll explore the importance of YOUR VOICE in the public narrative, YOUR VOICE in decisions surrounding the classroom, and YOUR VOICE in politics around public education. Discover strategies to use your voice and bring others along with you.
