When it comes to concerns over long term PV system reliability, the steel foundations that hold up a mounting system are not often the first component to weigh on an asset owners mind. But these too need special consideration to ensure they can stand up to 30 years in contact with air and soil in whatever conditions nature has to offer.
In this pv magazine Webinar, we look at steel corrosion in the field, particularly for those parts of the structure that are in contact with the soil. Manufacturer ArcelorMittal has put its many years of experience in the steel industry to good use in developing its Magnelis coating, that promises to prevent steel corrosion even in the harshest environments.
ArcelorMittal experts Jean-Louis Remlinger - segment leader for solar, Walter Perez Villa – product coordinator for metallic coated, Eva Diaz Gonzalez – product development manager, and Alexander Winther – client technical support will take us through some of the key features of Magnelis, and how it compares to the galvanizing solution that has been industry standard for many years.
With hundreds of thousands of tons in the field worldwide, and analysis of products after many years in the ground, ArcelorMittal has also been able to gain a clear understanding of many potential degradation mechanisms, and to predict its product lifetime in various installation environments, providing long-term confidence to customers and investors.
pv magazine Webinar content:
• Steel corrosion and how to prevent it
