Innovation in AI, data analysis and digitization has been underway in the solar market for the last few years. However, in 2023, the US solar market is projected to deploy more than 30 GW of installed capacity thanks to the Inflation Reduction Act, rendering the adoption of new and better processes around solar a necessity. Additionally, the deployment of increasingly larger utility solar projects and a looming labor shortage in the solar sector makes the need to accelerate the use of digital tools a more urgent priority.
This current situation creates opportunities for new, smarter solar software that can revolutionize development and construction: Geolocated handheld apps improve quality assurance inspections; AI tools use aerial footage to monitor construction more efficiently; digitization and software facilitate management of contractors. In addition, this creates the baseline for long-term condition monitoring, which enables better and faster decision-making. Data analytics taking place across the entire life cycle of the solar site allows project owners to gain deeper understanding of their assets all along its life cycle.
In this pv magazine Webinar, our initiative partner Above will shine light on how market participants can better manage their construction projects using data to track progress, identify deviations from construction designs, and collaborate with third parties. Digitizing the project drives down cost, streamlines communication and improves build quality which benefits contractors, developers, utilities, investors, and O&M providers alike.
James Pagonis, vice president of sales, North America for Above, will showcase how Above’s Digital Construction Management Solution assists projects in the US sized at 5 MW and 100+ MW, as well as detail which end users, use cases, and state markets will benefit from the software tool. Attendees will learn first-hand how users across the US solar market are using data to better understand the condition of solar asset portfolios captured by Above.
pv magazine Webinar content:
• How adoption of innovation in AI and digitization have affected the solar industry in the past and will continue to do so in the future
• How issues in the early construction stages of utility-scale solar plants (5MW+) magnify with current growth projections, a problem also known as technical debt
• Address how deployment of new technologies improves early-stage construction processes for evaluation via topographic scans.
• How Above’s digital construction-captured data streamlines project development functions, drives down cost and improves quality
• Q&A
Questions can be submitted beforehand or during the webinar through a chat window. Tristan Rayner, editor at pv magazine, and Michael Schoeck, associate editor at pv magazine USA, will be the co-moderators of this webinar.
