About this Webinar
Pembroke is proud to present our inaugural webinar! A scaled-down version of our annual workshop, Reading, Writing, and Mentoring in Tough Times will feature three of our top author-educators talking with you about the teaching topics that matter most. There is no charge for this webinar.
Larry Swartz, author of Teaching Tough Topics, offers an overview for choosing and using the best children’s books to address sensitive but significant topics in the classroom. Recent titles of picture books and novels will be highlighted to help build a better understanding of Race and Diverse Cultures.
Adrienne Gear, author of Powerful Writing Structures, presents the essentials of a year-long writing program based on individual thinking strategies. You’ll learn how to help students tap into their memory pockets for personal narrative writing, fact pockets for nonfiction, and imagination pockets for storytelling.
Lana Parker, co-author of Mentoring Each Other, shares insights into how teachers can collaborate and learn from each other in formal and informal situations. A sample “Mentoring Move” will show teachers a concrete example of how we can better listen, learn, and share to create more successful classrooms.
We’re so excited to start down this new teaching and learning path, and we can’t wait to see you there!
