In this on-demand session Dr Adele Stevens presents on how ex-military personnel experiencing PTSD or complex PTSD frequently present with co-occurring substance use difficulties, yet barriers related to stigma and fragmented service pathways often prevent effective engagement and recovery. This presentation outlines the development of an integrated, co-produced model of care within OpCourage South East, NHS veterans’ mental health and wellbeing service. The model combines evidence-based interventions for trauma and substance use with a parallel programme of cultural change aimed at embedding trauma informed, anti-stigma practice.

All of today's presentations include references to people experiencing difficulties and dependencies to alcohol, drugs, gambling and other related lived experiences. Some content may be emotionally challenging or bring up difficult thoughts or memories, and some sessions may include expletives. Please take care of yourself during the session and step away if you need to. You can rejoin the conference at any time using the link: www.nhsapa.org/stigma-conference-2025
