ABOUT THIS WEBINAR
Government officials are preparing to move next week on two of business aviation’s highest priorities – tariff policies and flight security protections – and a special NBAA Town Hall will be held on Friday, May 30 to explain what is in store, and what the industry needs to do to ensure its voice is heard on both matters.
Here is what is at stake for business aviation:
The U.S. Department of Commerce is investigating the impacts of imports of commercial aircraft, engines, avionics and other components on national security. Officials need to understand that U.S. trade in civil aircraft has a positive impact on national security, aviation safety and the national economy. Tariffs can have negative impacts, including cancelled or delayed orders for aircraft, engines, parts or services; possible relocation of manufacturing and MRO facilities or services; supply chain ramifications; and the loss of jobs, business and U.S. aerospace expertise. The deadline for industry to submit comments to the Commerce Department is June 3, 2025.
Separately, the FAA is moving ahead with new security protections for business aviation through the removal of personally identifiable information (PII) from the FAA Aircraft Registry, including personal data (e.g. name and address). The agency needs to hear from industry about whether the protections are correctly constructed, and if not, what any specific recommendations are for refinements. The deadline for industry to submit comments to the FAA is June 4, 2025.
At the May 30 Emergency Town Hall, NBAA representatives and industry experts will unpack both pressing topics, explain the need for immediate action and detail how you can make your voice heard.
