In celebration of the 40th anniversary of the publication of War Horse, Michael Morpurgo joined us for an exclusive live-streamed event for schools, sharing the inspiration behind his remarkable story of courage, loyalty and friendship set against the backdrop of the First World War.

Michael Morpurgo is in conversation with Emily Drabble from BookTrust, a reading charity he is also patron of, discussing his influences, sharing creative writing tips, and exploring the Tony Award®-Winning National Theatre production, which has been seen by over eight million people across the world.

We’d love you to get in touch with us on social media when you've watched the talk! Please tag @FarshoreBooks and @NT_Schools and use the hashtag #WarHorse40.

War Horse was much loved by Queen Elizabeth II, Royal Patron of the National Theatre for over four decades, having first watched the production in 2009 and meeting Joey, the puppet horse, at special performances including The Queen’s 90th birthday and the National Theatre’s 50th anniversary celebrations. The production is suitable for age 10+.
